A charming book...

Has anyone read Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen? It's a quirky story about a slightly odd family with some unusual skills. The central character's talent lies in using flowers and herbs from her amazing garden to influence people's emotions. It is not a tacky bodice-ripping romance - so if that's what you are looking for you won't find it here. I usually read sci-fi, mysteries/thrillers and autobiographies, but this book is absolutely charming especially for anyone who knows the difference between a pansy and a petunia.

Yes, I read it and I liked it a lot. Very magical. It reminded me of Laura Esquivel's Like Water for Chocolate.

I also read her new book "The Sugar Queen" and I enjoyed it a lot too. I got it from the library, the same day it was released. Can't wait to read more from her.

Solstice, I'm not stalking you but I felt guilty about so many non flower questions so thought I'd check out conversations and here you were again.

Yes, I read Garden Spells about a month ago. I loved it and it was one of those books I hated to see end.

Carmen, did you like The Sugar Queen as much as Garden Spells? I'll have to look for it too.

I always hope I can make it to Ricky's swaps but it's a long way and the price of gas is killing lots of good trips. I would like to go and see everyone again, so if I can, I will. It would be nice to get the Garden Hoes Detective Agency together!
