Parents 60th wedding anniversary

No that's not a typo. My Mom and Dad have been married for 60 years today. Ok, so the last 10 they were like the Bickersons (or Lockhorns for the younguns)but they're still together.It hasn't been easy. As some of you know my dad has been in ICU since 8/13. He has alot of health issuses but this time it was renal failure. They seemed to have cleared that up, have dealt with his diabetic leg wound and have him breathing better. We just don't know where we go from here.
My Mother has been wanting to call hospice for 2 months now, but up until they called 911, dad was fully functional. We are keeping an eye on her so she doesn't step on his air tube. lol
I think it scares her to think she will have to take care of him if they send him home. Her 4 kids have said they will do everything nessessary and try to explain about home health care but she probably still has hospice on speed dial.
We will be gathering this weekend to celebrate.
I will be drinking heavily. |

I will pray for you. I have been where you are. I loved my parents very much, but no other people could aggravate me more. I guess because of all the emotions involved with role reversal, past history, etc. Just know that you will never regret the effort and time spent to help them at this time. Hope the gathering goes smoothly.

| Kristi, so sorry to hear of your problems of late. Hope that everything works out well. It was very hard for me when my dad was ill and then loosing him. Your are in my thoughts and prayers. ;o) |

| Kristi, I have not been on line much in the past several months and wanted to say I keep you and your parents in my prayers. I hope things worked out and that life is a little less hectic for you. Sixty years is a wonderful milestone. My parents celebrated 53 years before my mother passed and then I took care of my father for the remaining 8 years he had and it was not easy as he had several strokes and died of cancer. You also know I took care of my husband for over 2 1/2 years. I think of you often and wish we lived closer.
