katkin, do you have muffin tins? I freeze them up for larger cupcake cubes for glasses and drinks. Last much longer- 1 to a glass than a buncha cubes do. You can make em really fast too! Try freezing a lemon or lime slice in each cup. Makes a nice refreshing drink. Orrrrrrrr you could make margarita cubes! lol

I put 2 liter bottles of water in the freezer to help fill up the empty space just in case we lose power.

i just cut the plastic away and throw it in the cooler??
any ither ides?? new to the south florida storms. only experienced charlie and the gang back in orlando. living on the coast, aren't the storms more intense??

Cliff leave a couple of inches for expansion and freeze. Put the whole bottle in the cooler. You can also pack them around your food in the freezer. We have aside by side fridge. I cram those bottles in where ever they fit. The larger the mass the longer it takes to defrost. Leave your food in the freezer as long as possible. We have a cooler just for drinks, the less you open the doors the better.

yes, leave it in the plastic. Eventually it will melt and you will have cold drinking water.
