Every story has a spin on it, I really dont think the trees were cut to simply make mulch. While the trees WERE cut, most likely for some other reason, and the wood's use not planned before cutting, there isnt much else that can be done with the trees.

If the storms hadnt torn up Louisiana, the trees probably woudnt be messed with today.

Who can be sure?

I'm of the opinion that there is cypress mulch because of developers not because the demand is so high for people to use it in their gardens.
I think efforts are best used trying to stop the over development rather than wasting energy on gardeners who use it in the yard.

I still wont use cypress mulch - my husband is too much of a tree hugger, so even if I did want - which I do not - he would not let me bring cypress mulch home :) Pine nuggets and composted yard waste only ...

After years of not using cypress mulch, that's what we got this year. I would not have ordered it and it won't happen again, for environmental reasons, but it's going to be on the garden for now. Don't shoot me.

I would think that if you had cypress trees to cut to make money that you'd make more money using the tress to make lumber. I love the look of cypress wood. I used to have a neighbor who had a lumber mill. He sold cypress mulch as by product of the lumber.

Still I have been using alternatives to cypress mulch...
