How to help?

hi
My neighbor's of 35 years, wife passed away in Jan of this year . Both were very close friends and i'm worried about Bob . Feel that I need to do something but at a loss. He seems rather depressed but not excessively
and during conversations he has mentioned suicide .
What can I do or say to help?? His children and G children do visit often and seem to be helping a lot .
and I have dicussed it with them and seem to be monitoring this . Anything else I could/should do??

Have you suggested a grief counseling group? Maybe you could find him a new hobby to help fill in the time. Or some work part time to get him out of the house. But don't forget he needs time to morn.

maybe I should have added some more detail. He's 95
has had several heart surgeries , has trouble keeping his balance but is extremely independant . have decided I should just mind my own business?? can't wait to get to that age?? lol Thanks gary

That's old. Sounds like he has been through alot. I guess just be his friend and hope for the best.
