My fave of the moment is the "Gasparilla Cookbook" (circa 1965 or so). Published by the Tampa Junior League. I also have one from the Clearwater Junior League titled "Grouper to Grits" circa 2007 or so. It's not bad, but too glossy and too many pictures for me, not enough recipes. I would suggest checking into local church bazaars and your local Junior League for cookbooks. I've had the best luck finding local recipes from those sources. Terri

Wasn't there a Cross Creek cookbook? What kind of Florida cooking are you looking for? I can't think past key lime pie. |

Well, I guess I'm more interested in Citrus based recipes.

You might try the ag center? Or the Library.

Hi Cliff, If you are still looking for a good cookbook, I think you will appreciate Mark Bittman's "Kitchen Express". You may be able to check it out at your local library. This isn't a Florida Cook Book per se, but fresh herbs, citrus and ginger are central in many of the recipes. Recipes are listed in a narrative fashion vs. the traditional method of exact measurements, and as indicated by the title, are pretty speedy. I really like this cookbook. Last night I made recipe #63 "Spicy Chicken with Lemongrass and Lime". The lemongrass is from my now mature start received from Kat a year ago. (Thanks Kat!) Bon appetite!

Cliff, if you asked for restaurant recommendations, that I could help you with, but cooking is not my strong front!lol Anyway, The Tampa Bay Bucs put out a family cookbook and I'm sure the other Florida teams have done the same. Try the Dolphins or the Marlins websites. They usually put them out for a fundraiser. Julie

coffeemom was right. There is a book called Cross Creek Cookery and you absolutely have to get it. I think it's the law or something. It's by Marjorie Kennon Rawlings and she tells stories about the creek life all through it. I'm sure you'll love it. Phyllis
