I bought a Dwarf Cavendish banana tree at Walmart a little over 6 weeks ago. At the time, it was exactly 12 inches tall and already had 2 small pups.I immediately transplanted it into a larger pot and fertilized it with a slow release fertilizer. In just 6 weeks it has more than tripled in size! (from 12 inches to 38 inches). That doesn't seem normal according to what I've been reading on these forums. Granted, I do live in the tropics. But this growth rate seems extreme even for the Gulf Coast of south west Florida.. Any ideas? Maybe it was mislabeled.. I would appreciate any input anyone has. Thanks! :)
