Ok Cindee I will plan on the sangria and condiments but we still gotta talk.

Our pool is still not completely finished so my yard tour isn't going to be nearly as pretty as I had hoped. They are great guys but they are working guys and stuff has been trampled, hit with chemicals etc.

Linda strawberry salsa sounds so wonderful. I plan on eating your salsa and drunk pies before anything so I don't get to full.

Barb I would love a couple variegated AV's. I thought I mentioned it when we met last. You still want the alpinia? Bring lots of stuff even if you haven't set up trades. I hope to trade stuff I didn't list. I usually bring way more than I should but if someone has something that catches your eye you want to be able to tempt them. I always give stuff away at the end.

Robin, call me on your next day off and we can chat!

Barb, I agree with Lady in that some folks are not familiar with certain plants, but when they see them in person, they change their minds. Plus folks usually have some surprises!

    FUN FUN FUN, can't wait!

16 days and counting! I'm going to bake a few things this weekend and throw them in the freezer. Humm what to make what to make. Cindee I know your guys like my oatmeal cookies, so those are on the list. Anyone have any requests? If not it will be a surprise.

We will be having a demonstration of Amaryllis Slivering during the swap. Bill Warren from the Amaryllis Forum, and Amaryllis study group will show those interested, how to sliver (split) amaryllis bulbs to create new plants. He will also tell us how to get Amaryllis to bloom 2, 3 times per year in Florida.

Those interested, please let me know so I can set up an area to accommodate Amaryllis lovers.

The amaryllis demo sounds interesting. I was just thinking of pulling mine to go dormant but 2-3 bloom times sounds better.
I love to learn new things.

Great, MsM! I have some seedling crosses, mine with others and some really interesting seeds crossed to share with everyone. I received pollen from folks on the Amayrllis forum to pollinate my plants, this is an addiction, I tell ya. I will have photos of parent seed crosses. I went nuts with Amaryllis this past winter.

  • jardinerafloridana

    Cindee,
I'm interested in the amaryllis demo too. I've been gardening a short while so I need to learn lots. Been busy at work and working late so I haven't had time to make a list. I don't know the names of most plants but I will be bringing a bunch of what I do have started. I do have three rooted Plumerias though. The mother tree gave small very fragrant dark red flowers but the ones I have (from cuttings)are bearing the small flowers (dark pink first then the get a little darker) that are not as red as the mother's flowers. Don't know why. I have also started some sun coleus (green, red and red/green leafed). I also have a couple of agave americana (I think that is what they were)and I started some moon flowers, mother of thousands and spider plants. As you can tell I am very new to gardening and don't know the plant's names or varieties but I am trying to learn. I can't wait till the swap. I am all excited.

Thanks so much Barb! I also need you to help me with the seed pods on my lovely AV-Wild Mustang. Never had seed pods before but they are growing like the turtles in the internet commercial. "Speed, Schmeed"! lol, They develope so slowly. I have no idea how to deal with them. Perhaps while everyone is eating, you can do a demo on AVs too. Anyone interested in African Violets, bring your plate to the kitchen. Barb is planning to bring new AV babies for everyone! I have only 3 of the var AV leaves from you that successfully produced babies that I managed to keep alive and need repotting. We can do something in the kitchen easily and I will be sure to have AV potting mix available. I will also be glad to offer leaves for those interested in new African Violets. You are the best, girl!

    Hey Denise!
I'm glad you'll be at Cindee's - I hope I can make it and meet you.
You have a lot of tomato seeds and I would love some! Can you use zinnias in your garden? I have been harvesting and keeping the colors separate. I am also planning on giving you the seeds to the Yellow Poincianna when they are ready. I can also take cuttings from this plumeria if you'd like. (Also have reds and pinks)

    {{gwi:769758}}

Cindee, thanks for the invitation. Since today is our anniversary, I might be able to get Larry to celebrate it with a Sunday afternoon trip! ** Crossing fingers **

Helen, are ya comin' too? I saw where you posted to request some rex begonias - did you ever get any? I have one that I think you'd like.

looking forward to meeting you too. Email me the seeds you want and I will bag them. As many diff.kinds as you want, I am rich in tomato seeds and have just started my first fall seeds which have come right up with this hot humid weather.

Your zinnias look beautiful! I have planted many kinds (have tons of seeds left) and had very little luck with them. I even purchased plants from the box store and they just do not prosper for me here.
I would love to try a plumeria though, pink or white.
    thanks

Denise, I'd love some Cosmos seeds and susie-I'd also love some zinnias. Like Denise, I haven't been successful with store bought seeds. Hoping yours are acclimated to zone 10. They are such a friendly flower! I have a mess of stuff girls, please tell me what you want! Susie, you have room for Ylang Tlang?

  • SusieQsie_Fla

Yeah Baby! Ylang Ylang got mojo! I'd love one.

And yes, these zinnias love Zone 10. They have reseeded themselves from some I planted last fall from some in my friend's yard. But I don't remember them being this huge!

    Anybody want baby Elephant Ears?

Thanks Cindee, Strictum grows pretty fast and very hardy. Once the roots are well established it can stay out doors in partial sun and it doesn't seem to mind all that rain, most epiphyllums you can't leave them out in the rain all the time because roots will rot. Do you want to trade a cutting for vanilla orchid?

More parking available. Write these numbers down. Seems we have more vacant homes on our street, so you can park in the driveways of the following addresses. 209, 210, 213, 216 in addition to the vacant lots. First come first served, however, I would appreciate you leave 216 next door open for my co-hostesses, Barb and Robin. And we have a camper parking there too. Everyone got directions? Everyone bringing food?? See you all SOON!!

    Cindee,

I have been working really hard getting my plants ready. Most of them have been potted up for quite a while with roots coming out the bottom of the pot. They were all squished together, some jumping into neighboring pots. I will have some long and lanky hoyas that took off running everywhere, long ric rac cactus falling out of pots, tons of plumerias, tall and skinny phillipine violets, tall copperleaf, and much more. Physical therapy has been wonderful, giving me relief from most of my pains, but gardening is still a challenge.
Besides my very dear husband, I will be bringing a yummy corn dip and chips.
Looking forward to a Super Swap Soiree on Sunday!

Hey Linda, I'd like a hoya, the one you gave me at Lady's years ago is now 2 very healthy plants. Wish I could get them to bloom! Also Do you happen to have a Pudica Bridal Veil Plumie? My neighbor wants one in the worst way after seeing mine. Mine are too little to take cuttings. She wishes like crazy she could make the swap, but she is a Casino Cashier (handles millions of $$ everyday). Sunday is a big day for them. I told her I'd try to get her a bridal veil. So glad the Phys Therapy is working for you. Mine is too. Sorry to have my sessions ending this Thurs. though. They have helped me so much!! Can'twait t see you!

  • Lady

Cindee along with my sangria I will bring bottled condiments like ketchup, mustard, pickles, mayo etc. Do you find your pudica to have a scent? I was given one by a close friend of the family and feel I have to keep it but I don't care for it near as much as other plumies. My dwarf evergreen doesn't have much scent either but at least it has some.

Susieque I would love some of the purple looking zinnia seeds if you have any.

JG sorry to hear you aren't going to be able to come. Linda I hope you are able to make it out and come celebrate your birthday.

Lady, the Pudica do not have a fragrance (darn it) they sure look like they should smell heavenly! The do bloom non-stop and I like the fact that they stay pretty small so they can fit into little spaces.

    Hi Robin
The purple zinnia is my favorite, so I took lots of that color. I'll bring some for ya.

    Hi Cindee
What color zinnias do you want? I have a bunch I harvested last night but I didn't keep them separated. Would you like a mix?

I have some little pepper plants, but the peppers are teeny and I don't know what they are. I can pot them up if anyone's interested. Also have basil plants, heliconias and vitex cuttings. I have some trees and shrubs that I'm not sure the names, so I will post pics and get IDs.
