Here is the younger version of it. At least I think it is.

What you are calling the "younger version" looks like a green lacewing (a good predator insect).
I think the first picture is some type of wasp, I've seen them around my flowers.
It almost looks like a papaya fruit fly ( also called papaya wasp, tho not a wasp) but don't think it is.

With the naked eye they looked like a young and adult version. With the zoom on the digital camera though, they look quite different.

I've been through several do-it-yourself bug ID sites without a definitive answer so I thought I'd post here.

You might also try sending your photos to the entomology dep't @ UF/IFAS

I've done it in the past & was given a definite ID very promptly.
