Full of blooms.

What kind of tree is it?

it Is Dombeya wallichii.

I have two huge ones also - good news here, they have been full of bees...I mean full! - I need to get behind them to do some pruning but will now wait until the blooms and bees are gone. So maybe there is hope.

While visiting Busch Gardens, a certain tree caught my attention as I was waiting for my kids to get off a rollercoaster. It was the Floss Silk Tree from South America. While the bark and branches were the first thing to catch my attention. I soon noticed that there were some rather large flowers in it as well and those flowers were covered in buzzing bees. I took a pic of the tree's trunk and it's nametag, but failed to take pics of the flowers as my battery was running really low and I was trying to minimize usage.

Shortly after taking this pic, we found another Silk Floss tree that was easily double the girth of this one and had far more flowers. Probably close to 30' tall.

I have a Coral Vine covering a huge pecan tree in my back yard, and it is always covered with bees...and hummingbirds love it also.... I read that it is considered invasive, but I've had no problem with mine...it drops leaves this time of year but leafs back out in Spring..it is quite a sight in full bloom, gorgeous pink color. sally
