Are you referring to some of the blue Encephalartos ? E. horridus, lehmannii and trispinosus do well if grown in full sun and well drained soil. They also like good air circulation. Often the older leaves will lose of of the waxy coating that gives them their blue coloring later in the summer. The heavy rains eventually wash it off.

A couple others that grow well are Cycas angulata and C. ophiolitica. Cycas thouarsii often has new leaves with blue coloring but fade to green as they age.
