I've read around online about this, but most topics are about growing seedlings or early starts during the winter in northern areas.

I was wondering if anyone has tried, and, if so, their experiences in fully growing cool season vegetables indoors during our long summers. I'm thinking of anything such as as the classic lettuce, to more experimental things like everbearing strawberries.

I haven't used this place, but another gardener I talk with just bought some lights from them and was pleased. You can also get lights off Amazon and Ebay...lots of places to shop around.

Before I heard of Lighting Wise, I got a T5 fixture off Amazon - EnviroGro brand. The quality of the fixture seems very good. It puts out a lot of white light, it's absolutely silent and the bulbs burn cool enough that you can let the plants almost touch them. I can touch the bulbs with no discomfort, but they do get uncomfortably warm if if I try to hold onto them. The fixture is not daisy-chainable. It has hooks and holes in the casing to hang from, but you have to supply your own chains. It's a good light, but I regret that I bought a 2 bulb fixture; I wish I had gotten the 4 bulb fixture. The area lit by two bulbs is just too narrow for a standard plant tray.
