Due to Nematode issues, the tropical pumpkin/calabaza is the only one which works in my yard. After they are ripe and I pull the roots, they are infested with rkn, but sure did produce 2 nice pumpkins just like last year. The large one is 7.5 lbs.

Ooh, those look interesting! Have you tried the Seminole Pumpkin? I have serious nematode and SVB problems here, and they produced for me. Smaller fruit, (1.5 lbs each is what I got; I think they can get up to about 3lbs) but tasty.

Seminoles are so easy to grow, and very tasty. The only problem is the flesh tends to be thin. This year I'm trying 'Taina Dorada', a variety developed in Puerto Rico for its disease resistance and semi-bush growth habit. We'll see if its as care free as the Seminoles.

Oooh, semi-bush habit sounds excellent. (I have space problems!) Please do keep us updated on how Taina Dorada does for you.
