Camellia question

I have a camellia japonica that is blooming right now, and since I know very little about camellias, I was wondering if it is normal for the open flowers to drop off after just a couple of days. It seems such a shame that all the beautiful blooms are all on the ground under the bush, that seem to be in perfect shape.

Yes, that's what they do. It is sad - they are so beautiful! You can pick the pretty blooms off the ground and float them in a bowl of water on your table. Add a bit of Peroxide to your water and they'll last a couple of days.
