HD carries the Lesco brand, we use 8-10-10 palm and tropical bag. Breaks down real slow, have had great results with it over the years. With fertilizer, you get what you pay for........

Thanx, I will try that brand. Is there a 'best' time to fertilize?

I did it yesterday with rain coming, Lesco is slow to break down, so you have some time till the plants actually absorb it. Compare bags where ever you go to get it, look for the most micro nutrients.....would take 3 bags of HD store brand to equal one bag of Lesco....

I just buy 10-10-10 at Home Depot. Five, 40lb bags for the front of the house. Haven't even started in back. I like to throw bags of wood mulch on top and water it in. I find the wood chips help break it down and balance the N.

I do buy separate Citrus and Palm fertilizer. I use the 10-10-10 for everything else. I have used that for many years, both in NY and Fla. I just find its a good beginning to get things going in Spring.
