A Day of Gardening/ Duval county class

I went to this last Saturday. The most interesting class was about using trap crops to deter stink bugs and aphids from the plants you want spared from them. They showed sunflowers and millet as great trap crops for stink bugs. The idea being they congregate on these crops and you can hand pick and destroy them. Has anyone every grown millet here?

I haven't grown millet but I've grown plenty of sunflowers -the only things they seem to be good for using as a trap crop are japanese beetles. *cringe*

Are there Japanese beetles in Florida? They were terrible in PA.
