Lots of begonias do well in the shade, the cane type can get quite large. What about crotons?

You could try Brunfelsia pauciflora - they suggest sun to partial shade, but mine gets very little sunlight and it does quite well. The flowers smell phenomenal. Here is mine - looking a little thin from recovering from the winter, but it's doing well.

That's a beautiful Y-T-T plant. Mine is blooming right now too. I have mine in a pot so I can slip it into the gh in the winter and its not as big as yours yet..

Thank you - Its been here since we moved in 5 years ago and we love it. It sits behind the well tank and right outside our bathroom window - it's like having a natural air freshener in there :)

It also sits right next to the dryer vent, so in the winter on those cold night, we'll sometimes run the dryer (with clothes in it of course) to help keep it warm.

My yard is almost full shade. For shrubs, look up clerodendrum incisum, Whitfieldia elongata,or thunbergia erecta. All bloom in deep shade.

I looked up the Y-T-T online. floridata.com says that Brunfelsia pauciflora is 3-8 feet tall and has "pansy-like flowers born in profuse clusters". It doesn't say anything about fragrance. But it does mention that the "Parguay jasmine (Brunfelsia australis), also called yesterday-today-and-tomorrow is very similar except that it's taller, more cold hardy, and has smaller, fragrant flowers. I want to get the right one. What do you think?

I read the prior discussion and it seems that Brunfelsia australis is the YTT I want for cold tolerance and fragrance. Is this the same plant that does well in shade? Does anyone know where I can buy one is South Brevard?

carolb, I'm glad to hear that ginger does well in shade. I recently planted culinary ginger where it gets only 3 hours of sun.

Thank you rosarama - I wish I knew - I would buy another. It was here when we purchased the house. I have to admit I haven't looked to hard for another. I do have a small one in the front as well that is in full fun. It' doesn't bloom or fill out nearly as much, but I catch of whiff of them when I walk in the front door also.

Half the house if filled with the scent of these flowers while I am sitting here.

I usually plant my butt in the shade, grab a cool drink, and enjoy looking over my garden.
