I'm growing them in full sun (shaded only at the hottest part of the day, though they don't seem to need the shade at all)

I'm in zone 9b, central coastal Florida. (Brevard County)

I have them also if the common name is Walking Iris. Mine have scapes on them now they are mostly in the shade.

Thank you for the information. I might have to buy one. My African iris plant has only had a few flowers in the year it's been planted in my yard (maybe it's flowered more when we aren't here in the summer).

My african iris plants have been blooming like crazy this winter. They slow down in the summer. They all seem to bloom at once every couple of weeks leading to the alias "fortnight flower". They need to be fairly mature before putting out big displays, though.

My iris clump has one bud and had had no flowers at all from January until now. It's planted in full sun and I rarely water it. Maybe that's the problem?

I think they have better foliage than the other types larger much more erect Flowers though many of them not to be compared to Bearded or Japanese for sure. Another that has much more attrative flowers in many colors is Louisianna Iris . i grow them in standing water
though i've heard it's not necessary,would think they'd need watering every day even with improved soil..

Also have Giant Iris, AKA Regina or Apostles Iris. From what I understand the plant originated in Brazil and does fine in Florida. Part sun location. I have three large clumps surrounding an oak tree that gets shifting afternoon sun. Two of them are just beginning to put out blooms. I bought a Red Velvet Elvis Louisiana Iris last week, should be interesting!

The iris will probably jump into my cart when I'm at Walmart--that's what I usually tell my husband when it happens,
