Scary big scales!

I found some HUGE scales on one of my sugar apples today. These things were as big as a pencil eraser, and purple and lavender colored. They almost looked like miniature toadstools, and exploded in blood and goo when I scraped them off.

Has anyone seen these before and does anybody know the name of these scales? These were creepy!

Yes! That's them. Thanks.

Theyre so big and juicy that next time I might try putting one on a hook and going bream fishing.
