I went through that stage of gardening lol. I even had a special frige for over summering temperate bulbs .What a hassle !! Finally got smart and quit though i still do it for a venus fly traplol Your idea sounds better if it will be cool enough?? I grow angel wing and semperflorens in shade I thought Cyclamen required a cool/cold rest period?? Anyway good luck with your idea What have you got to lose?? gary

Agree with Gary. I tried, then adjusted and let it go.
If you do decide to try, keep us posted on the progress. I miss a lot of northern plants!

I brought down 2 types of Angel wing begonias and 2 different semperflorens and lost all 4 once summer hit. and the loss of my 6 scented geraniums was hard.

Sounds like this is "ex-northerner remorse" lol I do think I will get another angel wing, a double semperflorens and at least one scented again this spring and try to see if it works. I have good light for them, and all three have worked well for me in the past as houseplants in the north. If these work, I may expand on some of the others.

.. and garflya, I did have a few spring flowering bulbs in the fridge, and just took the last out and planted them. :-)

Which flowering bulbs need to be dug up and stored? (eyeballing the Hyacinth my daughter gave me for Christmas)

I don't get enough cold in 10a for any spring bulb.. I planted crocus and hyacinth this year. But tulips, daffodils. etc all need to be chilled artificially here to flower.

Cyclamen need a cold temperature. LIke 50 degrees. They are either whitefly or red spider mite food. I forget. I used to sell them in a garden center in PA in the 80's.

I moved down with some cool-growing orchids. I brought them in the AC last summer but they did die off. Light is poor in these Florida houses with the overhanging roofs. Shades the windows.

I would think you could bring some plants inside, but how to deal with light?
