The over watering is a problem, but you've already figured that out! See, you're not such a novice afterall. I think you'll have trouble with that tomato if you don't poke some drain holes in the bottom. If it's too heavy to do that, try drilling a couple holes on the sides, but as close to the bottom as you can get.

The tiny red bugs sound like spider mites. They can be very damaging and you need to get rid of them as soon as possible, if that's what they are. I would spray it all down, including the underside of the leaves, with an insecticidal soap. Let that sit for a day, then hose it off to remove as many bugs (and eggs!) as possible. It's ok to use a spray attachment to get some force behind the water. Then use the soap again. Watch your other plants to be sure they haven't spread to them too!

I knew it was a bad day... I drilled a hole in the tomato pot. You should see how much water came out. That poor tomato plant. I hope it bounces back.

I also sprayed the blood orange tree with a mixture of Neem and soap. I had to wait until the evening to do it. It seemed to stop those little red buggers dead in their tracks.

I did some internet searching on spider mites and that doesn't look like what they are. The tree "looks" really, really healthy.

Any other ideas of what the little red bug might be?
