FL Spider Lily

Hi all,
I just dug up a 15 year old clump of seriously overgrown and crowded spider lilies (Hymenocallis). How long can I leave these out of the ground before replanting them? I'll be giving most of them to co-workers who may not be ready to plant them for a couple weeks. Will they be OK?

Aha! After I googled the botanical name I realized what it is. I know these have many names... I call them Peruvian Daffodils. Yes, they will live almost forever after being lifted. I had a clump that once lived in a bucket for a year - maybe two - before I finally got them back in the ground. They are very, very tough.

Tell your lucky coworkers that these are usually two years and sometimes three years in the ground before they will start blooming. And then they will go crazy.
