"The Garden Conservancy"

This fantastic organization has open garden tours in Atlantic Seaboard and NE states, and in California... and now 1 in Jacksonville.

Reservations not needed, info and directions are all online; $10 per garden. Many (most?) are in rural areas with large acreages... so different from FL!

Last July I was in NY and made it to one "open garden" - could not have done it without a GPS - 30 minutes of winding back roads. Garden was many acres, including large sculptures by owner; owners on hand to answer questions.

(I can't determine if this organization has been mentioned on GW... when I search, any word starting with "conserv" comes up!)

Garden visit cost seems to be $5 per garden, although the website warns that prices have risen.
