Are you sure it wasn't a government drone? They seem to be everywhere today.

It appears that you are in Georgia. We get them at different times here in Florida. In northern Florida they get Ruby-throateds during the migration. In southern Florida they seem to get hummers mostly in the winter months.

In central Florida we get them both times--at least if we don't have a freeze.

I have been fortunate to have at least one Ruby-throated all year long this year. Right now I have at least three around my property--all Ruby-throateds.

Yay Zackey! I'm sitting out in my garden right now, watching the hummers and drinking some wine. Double buzzed :)

They are back here, too - the Coral Honeysuckle and the Bottle Brush Trees are attracting them.
BTW I thought the drones were in the shape of dragonflies! Dang, you mean I have to be paranoid about my precious hummers, too??

Mine was a ruby throated one. We usually only get one or two. I have wild blueberries by the ton this year, not sure if they go for them. I let my broccoli go to flower and found a honey bee out there the other day. Not many flowers here for hummers right now. I had a golden dew drop they loved but that hasn't come back yet.

I had to give my coral honeysuckle a MAJOR prune so only a few blooms right now...not attracting too much.

I saw a ruby throated hummingbird today. It was getting nectar from milkweed.
