Is it at the end of its lifespan?

Absolutely not! Crape myrtles are super-hardy and yours is just fine.

Here is what is going on: in North Florida (Tallahasee and Jacksonville), depending upon the variety, they either haven't leafed out yet or are juuuuuuust starting to leaf out. Give it only one-to-two weeks and you'll see it full of life.

Cheers everyone! Everything on my property except the boxwood hasn't been tended for probably decades. I am glad this crape myrtle was left alone. Hanging in there as advised.

Speaking of crapes, I have one that is now 3 years old and supposed to be an Arapaho, which should grow to 12 feet or more, but has never gotten more than about 4 feet tall, no matter what I do. I've pretty much decided that it was mislabeled at the big box store and is probably a dwarf variety. Any ideas? I live in Ft. Lauderdale.
