Now I cut fronds of Boston Ferns and stuck them under the string.....completing around the barrel

Next I used black paint over the fern stencils to further disguise the barrel......

Cut the string and finish painting the edges and touch-up....I'm happy........doug

Nice use of the fern leaves as a stencil. Knowing me, I would have tried cutting out individual stencils using an X-acto knife and masking tape. This is much easier and probably looks tons better. I may have to borrow this idea some day. Good job.

Well that's pretty enough to be a front yard planter. And I don't see the wind knocking THAT over! Must show this to DH. Thanks for sharing your very cool re-use idea!

For those wishing to recreate this.....the "Eureka" moment came with the string......I knew the black over masked green would work well.....Moments before I thought I was going to use clothespins on the top edge to hold the ferns and blue masking tape down at the dirt level......

I walked thru the garage and spotted the parachute cord....small, strong....kinda springy......I tied it tight to the barrel holding the ferns stem tight to the surface at the cord....the remaining twists and turns produce some "Art"
