Hi wardog, I would wait and see what fruits form...then you can tie up the branches to help the fruits grow and not snap the branch. I wouldn't care if the tree looked ugly since to me the important part is eating the mangoes,lol...

Only about 1%-5% of the blooms will actually form into fruits...and make it to maturity so unfortunate :o(

I've tied many branches on my trees to keep the mangoes from touching the ground or breaking the branch/limbs. I also cover the fruit to "try" and keep the Varmints from eating them...

I attached a You Tube Video below...according to this its only less than one percent that make it to maturity, Its just awful!!

Just wondering...doesn't the plastic zip-lock bags cook the fruit? I would think they would heat up under plastic in the sun.

Hi Jane, these are not plastic zip-lock bags I'm using...they are plastic produce containers that (grapes, strawberries, kiwi, etc.)...they have cuts/holes on them so it does help keep them from heating up...having said that I have had them sunburn on occasion when the sun bears on them for hours on end...the best way to deflect the heat is cover them with the leaves or place a piece of newspaper or something similar...

Its one of the very 'few' things I've used that works 80% of the time...there are still a few Varmints that are able to penetrate the containers but most of them they leave alone...

I was using these before the plastic containers...but they just chewed right through the screen! I'm always looking for better ways to protect my mangoes from Varmints...if anyone has a great idea...I'll be grateful!

Thanks Irma, wish I could take the credit but someone on a different forum suggested it and I have it a try...not fool proof...but it sure saved a lot of my fruits :o)

Hi wardog, very NICE mango tree...YUP! that is completely normal!! A Mango tree in bloom is a beautiful sight to see in my eyes...its a preview of great things to come!
