From my experience with crinums you should be able to cut off most if not all of the leaves without hurting the plant. I would definatly cut off all of the damaged leaves.

I have cut them all off down to about 3 inches of stub and they grew back just fine. In fact it might be a good thing to do since you are moving it and won't get all the roots that support the big plant. Just water it well for a few weeks. :o)

You can cut the darned thing in half and stomp on it, put it back in the ground and it will grow. I have done it with big bulbs.
