Has anyone dealt with this before? i keep having issues with it, i removed all limbs affected and applied organocide. Not sure if it had anything to do with me appling a insecticidal soap last night to rid of a caterpiller problom i had on my peas. Yesterday i saw a few stems with this problem but i just cut out like 20-30 stems covered in it. NEED HELP!

RE: Tomato plant stems turning black?

It's possibly sooty mold which doesn't actually harm the plant except to block photosynthesis by shading the leaf from sunlight.
I'm guessing at what it is because it is hard to determine from looking at a picture.

Doesn't look like sooty mold. Looks to be in the veins of the plant. I doubt it is caused by insecticidial soap.

You do not say what variety of tomato this is - might it be normal for the variety? The leaves do not look too distorted or diseased...
