First off, if you're not aware, straight up conventional impatiens have a near 100% mortality rate these days, thanks to Downy Mildew. If you don't know about it, do some research. Sunpatiens and New Guinea Impatiens aren't effected.

As to your question about watering, it's generally better to water early in the morning. Watering in the evening can lead to other types of mildew or fungus and cause problems in the soil. Irrigating in the morning helps ensure the excess water evaporates, and certain plants' leaves are "open" down near the cellular level in the morning, providing more bang for your buck, water wise.

Personally, I water at both times of day without issue, but some might argue the benefits of one over the other.

I water when I can get around to it, but always prefer morning over night. Cuts down on the fungus issues.

can you get them to grow through the summer ?
gary. IME as soon as the night time heat hits they decline N. Guinea much longer but still affected . So I treat them as annuals .
