The best advice I have for you is to make sure that you investigate the citrus before you go investing in it. You are in an area that is inundated with greening. If you put the citrus out there and don't know how to prevent it from happening, you'll lose your trees in just a few short seasons.

The next thing I'll tell you is to make sure that you get the dimensions down and draw it all out. Be sure to keep things correctly spaced and see how you want things to look for you. I do my stuff in a simple word document so I can judge what my newest layout is going to look like.

What I'm trying to say is don't do what I did. I put raised beds in and then tore them out just to redo them because I wasn't pleased with the dimensions and spacing. It's a complete waste. Also pay attention to the type of materials you use. If you use non treated wood you'll end up rebuilding in 2-4 years, if you use treated you'll be leaching those chemicals into your soil, etc. All big things to consider.

So - do your research... and here is a picture of what I was talking about you don't need a big fancy program this is just WORD. (I also use word to make my planting diagrams for Square foot gardening)

Re: the treated lumber dilemma...

I used non-treated pine to create raised beds for blueberries. I realize the "box" is going to rot/get eaten but I figure, when that happens, I'll just rip out the frame leaving a nice "mound" that will have to be refreshed from time to time with pine bark. I can't foresee a problem with this plan.

I'm north of Orlando, so I can't help with Lakeland... but I know that there are some excellent nurseries on the left coast of Florida. Maybe some of the Tampa people can help?
