That sounds like Mark's Party Time alternathera (spelling might not be right).

I got one too and I love it!

I didn't get to go to the party but I did see it in the photo of the plants in the back of Mark's truck. Susie is right: it is Alternanthera 'Party Time'. It is also sometimes known as Joseph's Coat or Parrot Leaf. All of those are pretty good names for that plant, right?!

It is one of my favorites. I was so happy to see that the ones I had planted in the yard made it through winter and were still smiling back at me this March. Who would have thought?! I was sure it was a very tender tropical but nope, all four of them planted in various places in the outskirts underneath a large oak made it through winter. So yeah, I started cuttings now that I know it may not be an annual after all. :)
