avocado tree

Well, now I've gone and done it. Royally screwed up that is. For years I've rooted and planted avocado pits. If I was lucky, they reached a few feet and then died. Not this time. Noooooooooo. My avocado tree that was a spindly little thing when I planted it is now 15 feet tall. Unfortunately, I planted it too close to the house. When I planted it, I assumed that like all the others it would eventually die. I just figured that the Florida heat would zap the bejeebers out of it and that would be that. I would just start over again. My tree is beautiful, but it's too close to the house and I'm afraid the roots will ruin our sidewalk.. My question...can I somehow take cuttings and root them? I would dearly love to keep something of my tree, however, if its gotta go then it will go.
