I don't think so. We plant late every year for some reason. We have good luck most of the time.

I have some third or fourth generation bush beans going. They are doing well... Although their parents had some pretty bad encounters with spider mites.

Kalie - Had you thought about growing butterbeans/limas this time of year since this is the best time of year for growing them? Another possibility is to consider growing yardlong beans. They come in both green and red varieties. I grow all of these after my first green bean plantings are finished.

I must have grown the wrong type of green beans, because my pole beans just gave up and died when the heat kicked in last year. What kind do you grow, Zackey?

Katie, I second the recommendation for long beans - they seem to love the heat and humidity. I grew Chinese Red Noodle last year and will again this year. (I'm just waiting for the onions to finish so I can plant them.)

In addition to the butterbeans already mentioned, cowpeas are another heat-loving alternative.

And to everyone, thanks for the positive remarks. Last night I went ahead and planted a bunch of beans and I will be hoping for the best. I already had some runner beans and yard long beans going, but I wanted some more... and now I have them. :)
