Matchsticks are pretty!

I repotted my matchstick a month or so ago - I bet I thwarted blooming. How often do you repot your bromeliads? Yours is so pretty!

I have quite a few broms that I put in the ground for the first time last year. I found out that some are more cold-hardy than others, but almost all had some kind of freeze damage. I did lose two completely. A few others are putting up pups from the roots even though their mother appears to be almost completely gone.... just a mass of brown leaves with pups coming up. It's kinda ugly... so do I lift them this year? Just let the cycle repeat next year? Haven't decided.

It's amazing how much difference 109 miles and a good tree canopy makes. I'm working on the tree canopy... :)
