I tried six from seed in starter mix and 3oz solo bathroom cups but none germinated, might have been the seed was too old since it was over a year old. I'm going to try again but this time grown-sown and in 5 gallon terra cotta pots.

I direct sowed some in my wildflower bed this past December or January... along with a bunch of other stuff. And unfortunately I did not sow them in rows or sections but kind of randomly throughout the bed. Did they take? Not sure. Lots of stuff is coming up, but I dont know what young Liatris looks like and it should be another year before they bloom, if they took.

I was finally able to get some plants last year and, happily, I have seedlings of various ages popping up in the beds and pots where I scattered the seeds. I have been looking for Liatris for a while so I hope they keep coming back. The seedlings start with two tiny oval leaves and then a thin grass like spike comes up from the middle. If it survives past that point it looks very grass like so be careful when weeding!
