Pretty globba ginger!!
Here's my pink one.

I have a few different colors in the globbas.
Last year I bought globba 'Blue Hawaii' bluish purple flowers and globba 'Sangria' (reddish foliage-dark fushia flowers). These two are getting ready to bloom now. I can put up pics when they do.
I also have the globba 'White Dragon'.

We have the yellow/gold one....nice bloom, but it produces "bulbettes", tiny bulb like seeds. That's what I call 'em. Comes up everywhere, which is not a bad thing here. Has a short life span, so it's gone by fall. But back next year.....:)

Think you're right !!! lol I have another type also called "dancing lady" but doesn't have the bracts and stays much smaller confined to yellow but flowers are much larger. Only thing I dislike about them is the winter dormancy Wallisadi. They do tend to overrun an area . These I found in my very neglected shadehouse under 4 layers of growth Thanks for the ID think I'll search out a white They challenge orchids for "exotic" looking flowers ?? lol gary

I also have a globe globba. The flowers are ball shaped and pinkish/lavender. But the same, they go deciduous. Still I look forward to seeing them in the spring.

Yep it looks like a type of peacock ginger. There are several varieties called peacock. They are in the Kaemferia group of gingers.
Mine is called Kaemferia Grande.
The pink flowers come up first.

Then after the flowers drop off then the leaves come up. The leaves can get very large on the Grande and are reddish on the underside.

Oh no I happened to be looking on ebay and came across this..wellspringgardens has a bunch of new gingers listed on their store pretty cheap. I got some of the pretty hedychiums. I HAD to get some LOL! These are small starter plants but I order from them all the time and they always seem to do well.
