I get the "mini" nuggets at our local landscape supply in Bradenton.

It's the mini nuggets that I am looking for but Bradenton is pretty far to go for mulch. Someone mentioned the pine bark fines at Walmart being sold as soil conditioner. I went to Walmart but they didn't have the fines. I was hoping to find something closer in Tampa since I have a Volvo Sedan and my max for mulch is 10 bags and I need about 30 bags - although I wonder if I can put them on the roof? lol!

Our K-Mart used to have the fines. When they quit carrying them, I asked the usual checkout gal what the deal was and she had been ordering them "off-list" from one of the suppliers. The store manager apparently didn't like that so no more fines.

Good suggestions. I did a google search and found a place called Mulch Express on Nebraska that has pine bark and also pine straw. And Cypress Creek is not that far away so I will try them also.

pine straw is a really nice top layer, but i recommend using trash mulch (from the power company or trimmers) as a substantial layer beneath it. the straw just doesn't keep the weeds out, but it looks very nice.

that's how i have my roses mulched.

and our local walmart has pine NUGGETS and pine MULCH. the latter is just a new, different way to label pine fines.
