Karalynn: It looks like salvia "Wendy's Wish". - June

Looks like Salvia. Quite possibly a cultivar of Tropical Salvia, Salvia coccinea, which is usually red I but I have seen it in other colors as well. Mine gets a little pink when it gets dry and hot, but after a drink of water it tends to redden right back up (new blooms that is).

Definitely looks like Wendy's Wish Salvia. It can grow to 4'x4' and handles just about any environment or conditions you can throw at it.

Thanks for the ID. I haven't had it get that big but it does die back to the ground in the winter. I think this is the third year I've had it.

I've got some sitting in richly composted shade beds, dead-sand full sun beds, and most everything inbetween. Once they adjust to their environment, they'll survive anything.

Biggest trick (IMO) is continuing to trim and cut back the plant, no matter how well it's doing. The blooms are already gorgeous, but when the plant gets dense enough, you'd swear this Salvia had pink leaves, based on how prodigious the blooms are.

Yup - Wendy's wish...I hate to cut mine back but the cuttings root so easily in water that I make myself do it.
