It looks like a Fritallaria and I had no idea they grew in zone 10.

Thanks, trini1. It certainly looks like it. I did a little research and apparently is it rated for zone 6-8. Quite pretty.

Gary, I know. A friend walks her dog around her neighborhood and saw this plant. Asked if anyone knew what it was.

I thought it was an abandoned house but I don't think they'd leave a wheelbarrow behind...although who knows!

The background tend to make me suspect the ID . Wonder how they get by without the cold rest period if it
is a frittlaria?? Certainly looks like one though I haven't seen one in many years. maybe there are tropical members to the family?? I'm curious lol gary

Gary, it's fritllaria imperialis which some websites list up to zone 11. It could be that it may just live 1-2 seasons like some of the other northern bulbs.

Says flower and leaves are "fragrant" but in further description (small print, lol) says, "All parts of the plant have a skunky odor."

Ima, I don't know. I never saw the flower. The pic was sent to me by a friend. I also read that it is 'stinky.'
