How large does a red lime tree get?

We have a red lime tree in a five gallon pot. It is about three feet tall and maybe 1.5 inches at the base. Our choice is to make a place for it in the front yard or put it in a 25 gallon container. Is the red lime tree about the size of a key lime or does it get larger? About how many years does it take to fruit? This one is about three years old, I think. We were in Panama in January and a restaurant where we ate served fish with red limes. Wow!
