Guilty of buying 2 orchids in ceramic pots for 2.00 each the other day lol. They really didn't look all that bad. One had just got done flowering and the other is flowering.

Rita, Maybe keep a roll of tape in your trunk. Yes, you have to be smart about those discount plants. Certainly don't buy petunias and pansies in May. But they can be quite a bargain for perennials esp those that I always wondered how they would do here.

I did see a lot of orchids in good shape, but maybe not by now. I also noticed that they had many spectacular hybrid hibiscus in the regular area. I will be checking the hospital racks for those in a week or three. Lol...

I shop only Lowes now, rather than Home Depot across the street, because of their discounted racks. Great changing variety and prices. Ritaweeda, you're right about the cheaper soil bags... corners popped open when thrown onto the back seat (covered with old plastic shower curtain) ... looked like a volcano had erupted tiny black pieces.

Hey, yesterday I was there for some 3-in-1 spray for insects and disease, etc., but as usual I swung by the clearance racks. There was the usual stuff that should have gone in the dumpster, but right beside them was one of those long push carts loaded with plumbagos, regularly $4.98. So I asked one of the staff, an older woman what the deal was on them to make sure, she kind of didn't act like she knew, or cared, for that matter, but said that usually everything on clearance was usually 50% off. So I took one of them over to the cashier, a young guy, and he very merrily told me, yes those are on clearance but sometimes they are even less than 50%, so he ran it through the machine and they were ONLY ONE DOLLAR!!! Well, I told him "I'll be back" and went back and got 10 of them!!! Of course 5 of them went to my daughter in law, but anyways...
