Possibly Chinese red noodle bean.

It looks like a cowpea of some sort, if it looks like the picture below, notice the length then is a yard long bean, the color is like one called mossaic.

Looks a lot like the Red Ripper cowpeas I grew once upon a time - def. in that family

Carolb, I'm curious. I've never grown Red Ripper, but I thought the seeds were also red, not colored like a black-eyed pea?

They are definitely not a yard long bean, I've grown those and they are much longer than what I'm getting. They look like the pink purple cowpeas that Silvia put up a pic of.

I think I was misremembering; I've also grown pink-eye purple hulled peas, but had forgotten until now - much more likely that's it. Google image search confirmed

I think Carolb is right. If I remember correctly I've seen them grown by folks in Alabama.

It is a pinkeye purple Hull cowpea. I grow them here in Florida every year.

Luther, at least I remember that there was a pink and a purple to the cowpea name, I grew them few years ago.:) I have now in my list to try a bush cowpea from Italy...
