Southern Leopard Frog

KaraLynn

In previous years I had maybe one or two southern leopard frogs in my pond but this year their population has exploded! I have at least a dozen of them that I have seen leaping around the garden and mating. By now my pond must be full of tadpoles unless the fish are eating them all. The largest leopard frog I've seen so far was one last night that was about 3" long and was probably 25 feet away from the pond. Also, for the first time I seem to have bullfrogs in the pond too. For a pond that really isn't all that big (11 feet x 5 feet x 2-2.5 feet deep) it sure has attracted a lot of frogs! I thought both leopard frogs and bullfrogs were territorial but they seem to be getting along for now. On the down side I haven't seen as many spadefoot toads this year.
