Next is another type of globba. Like the yellow version this one produces the seeds/bulblets.

Here's a type of spiral gingers which leaves are velvety on the underside. I can't remember it's real name but I like to call it my pet me ginger! lol

Did you plant them in full sun, partial or total shade? The extension office recommends partial or total shade. What zone are you in and what's working so well for you?

Next is another type of curcuma ginger. I've never seen it bloom but I love it's red stems!

I'm in zone 9a and the bed most of these gingers are growing in was full shade until this spring when the dogwood tree at the center of the bed went into decline. I've cut down most of the tree and since then the gingers have been doing better then ever! They still get quite a bit of shade from the surrounding trees but they seem to like the increased sunlight from the loss of the dogwood.

The shampoo ginger is the only one shown above that's groing in a different bed and it's in mostly shade but it's a high shade.

Almost forgot this one! It's an orange butterfly ginger, Hedychium coccineum.

Lovely gingers! Love that dark orange Hedychium and the variegated shampoo. I have noticed mine also do better with a little more sun.
My potted globbas and peacocks were getting a little leggy lately, so I pulled them out into more sun and they are handling it quite well. I think they can handle more sun in humid places. In AZ, I had to grow my gingers in deep shade or they burned.
