I'd remove it. It is aggressive, and will always be trying to climb the screen. Weed wacker really is the only time effective way to shape it. I'm sure it would transplant easily. It is in fact very hard to kill - even round up doesn't do much to it. Has to be dug out.

I would move it. It sounds like a lot of maintenance. Yes, it transplants easily. When I moved mine it broke up into much smaller pieces, but each piece had roots, so I wound up with a lot of small plants to work with, perfect for starting a ground cover in another area.

As for what to replace it with, there are a lot of things to take into consideration--how much sun the spot gets, how high do you want it to grow, and so on. Tell us more about the spot and what's you'd like and I'm sure you'll get some suggestions.

Yes, knuckleheads with weedwackers will tear up the bottom of the screen. Screen is not cheap to replace.

The main thing is that I don't want to have to fight weeds in that area and I don't want to have something that needs to be cut by the lawn guy.

It gets mostly shade in the summer and some sun in the winter. I don't want anything tall.

I am considering leaving it in for a while and getting a weed whacker and doing that part myself. Maybe a dumb idea. I've seen some ground covers that I think may be nice- the dwarf chanille I've seen here.
