The moths are really pretty but it is best if you get rid of the caterpillars. I made the mistake of letting them be when they showed up on my desert rose last year and they not only ate the leaves they started to eat the branches too! The plant now lives on my screened in front porch for it's protection. BTW they also eat mandevilla vines which I didn't discover until after they actually ate mine down to nothing!

I usually kill off all but one or two of the cats. The moths are so pretty and look like a wasp.

I'm thinking they may be Io moth caterpillars - & if they are, those spines sting! I was trimming my ixora the other day & was surprised to see several on the leaves; I thought they preferred hibiscus....

Yes - they turn into the beautiful io moth which lives in its adult stage for less than one day - as adults, their sole job is to lay eggs.
