I didn't know about the white type either. I also didn't know turk's cap bloomed in the summer. I've always thought of it as a fall, winter flower. Very pretty!

Very pretty flower.

Some questions:

When does it bloom?

Do hummingbirds and butterflies use it?

Do the flowers come upright or do they hang down like the more common red ones.

I would love to get a plant, but I have never seen a place that sells them. Any suggestions?

Bill - The variety that is "dwarf" begins blooming early summer. It is a much daintier plant than the large sized variety. Much less common to find for sale. My larger variety blooms in the fall.
