They don't want too much watering. Okay in the rainy season, but drier in the dry season, and plenty of sun.

I grew mine from seed too and it is now about 30 feet tall. I am pretty sure it bloomed after it was about 5 years old. It suffered the 2 cold winters we had but seems to be making a come back now. :o)

Gorgeous tree but not so much if they eat the plumbing ??lol have you checked Floridata or UF sites??
They do get enormous but seem to snap rather than be pushed over during windstorms . Theere is a sterile variety that doesn't produce the seedpods.
I tried to dwarf a white variety for over 15 years Planted it in the neighbors yard 3 years ago .Stll has not flowered so no idea if it's really white lol
If you have the room I'd say go for it but would keep it at least 25/30 feet from the septic. There are many types of dwarf poincianna that stay a manageable size.

There are dozens!! For the life of me can't think of the latin names If you want the red yellow combination there is Pride of Barbados" Easily maintained at under 10 feet. No sterile that I'm aware of but pods are about 3/4 inches and almost never sprout. Has the gorgeous pinate foliage of RP but much smaller scale Can also easily be maintained in a pot gary

There is a solid yellow one, but it sprouts all it's seeds. :o)

I would appreciate any advice...I have a young Royal about 15 ft high. It has a lower limb I would like to remove to prevent it from obscuring the road and sidewalk. The limb is low to the ground. My concern is, the limb is the same thickness as the trunk! Will it kill the tree if I cut it off??

No, I don't think it will kill the tree to prune it off. Experts say only prune off 1/3 at a time until you get it to the height you want it to fork. Then keep the trunk clean of any growth.
