I can vouch strongly for the one with yellow/orange flowers. Also beloved by hummingbirds. They should get HUGE(er) down there, allow plenty of elbow room!

It's kind of hard to go just by color. I had a yellow from a big box store that they ignored. FWIW, for my feral lantanas they seem to like the purple more than the white.

I think having mixed colors works best. Like Writersblock, I find that the butterflies seem to prefer to nectar on my purple trailing lantanas, but I don't think having just purple works too well. While they might like to nectar on the purples, it seems it is the yellows and whites that brings them to the yard. I don't have the orange and pink ones though, as I try to steer clear of L. camara. The butterflies that visit my yard seem to be least interested in reds, but the majority of my reds are Tropical Salvia which they don't seem interested in at all.

It is unfortunate, I guess, but I've observed that the weedy L.camara is the 1 most preferred by butterflies. I suppose you could try to keep it in check by deadheading & containerizing(?)

Is it as simple as judging a plant by flower color? There are several GIANT plants nobody ever touches for years at a time along the fence, but I can't say that I've ever pulled or seen a sprout that looked like Lantana. That one definitely makes seeds that ripen, at least visually, never tried to deadhead, or sprout one.

A very similar one that rarely makes a seed, definitely no sprouts, unless they are only spread far away.

I'm confused after reading discussions about Lantana over the years, then living with these plants for 6 years. Do either happen to be a nursery cultivar? Very few old plants like that in this neighborhood, if you know what I mean.
